America Recovers Most Powerful Supercomputer Record With New Monster Summit

Until a while ago, China's supercomputer record was again broken by the United States. Summit, a highly advanced supercomputer with artificial intelligence along with its speed, will help various scientific researches in the country. The United States Department of Energy has again won the world's most powerful supercomputer record on Friday. A computer capable of operating at 200 petaflops can perform 200 quadrillion operations at the moment.TaihuLight, developed by China to be the previous record holder, had a capacity of 93 petaflops per second. However, America's Summit supercomputer is 7 times faster than Titan, which was developed in the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, which had previously won record.
The Summit-named supercomputer in the size of two tennis courts draws more than 9,000 of the 22-core IBM Power9 processors and more than 27,000 of the NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPUs. To cool the system, the device needs 4,000 gallons of water per minute. The energy that Summit spends in minutes is enough for 8,100 homes.Summit is designed specifically for artificial intelligence projects, with China breaking the record. In this direction, this gigantic instrument; can use machine learning and deep learning to help research health, physics and climate models. In other projects that scientists want to use Summit, find out how elements such as gold move in the environment, and make various simulations on new materials such as superconductors and analyze supernovae.
